New Tools for Climate-Aligned Legal Contracts

The Chancery Lane Project is well-known for helping lawyers turn climate goals into action through contracts. This week, it launched a number of AI tools for scaling climate-aligned legal content in their new digital platform called “TCLP Labs”.

With TCLP Labs (funded by the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation and developed with Unboxed), lawyers and sustainability professionals will be able to:

  1. Compare tender documents against tender ambition

As well as identifying any inconsistencies between documents, the tool will also recommended climate-aligned contract clauses, drawn from TCLP’s legal content library

2. Benchmark contracts against GRI Standards

This tool is still an early-stage experiment as of today.

3. Enable Claude to create and review climate-aligned contract clauses

Once its skills file is installed, Claude can be used to create and review climate-aligned contract clauses, drawing on TCLP’s ambitious clause library.

Another tool in the TCLP Labs allows us to easily assess law firm climate commitments to The Science-Based Targets Initiative’s (SBTi). It tracks 77 law firms so far.

The Chancery Lane Project stated:

These new tools, once adopted by a sufficient number of legal professionals, will help advance and scale that mission.
